Olympus has updated the firmware for the OM-D E-M5 to version 1.2. It’s not a big update, but it does enhance the “sleep recover operation.” In addition to the fix, it also offers an autofocus tracking point that can be used in the Sequential L setting. If you’re lucky enough to own one of these beauties, go grab it now. Just launch the Olympus Viewer 2 (as of this post, it is currently at Viewer 2 is currently at version 1.4) software on your computer, connect your camera via USB and then enjoy your new firmware goodness.
For those of you who are new to this, follow these quick steps to get your OM-D updated in a flash.
Launch the Olympus Viewer 2 (download and install it if necessary). Once the Viewer 2 app is up and running, connect your camera via the USB cord that came with your camera. After a few seconds, your camera should be recognized by the software.
With your camera connected, select the Camera menu item then select Update Camera.
Make sure you have a fully charged batter, sit back and let the camera update. Don’t unplug the camera from the computer while it’s updating. When it’s all done processing the firmware update, you’ll see the word “OK” appear on the OM-D’s LCD screen.
Now, stop reading this and go update your camera!
